Sandy Hook

In response to the tragedy in Sandy Hook School, the First Presbyterian Church will be opening the chapel on Friday the 20th, in a one week remembrance, for prayer and meditation from 11am to 6pm.  An Elder of the church will be available. The community is welcome to come and join us on the Longest Night to seek peace and comfort in this national or any personal grief.

Sunday, November 18

The title of Pastor Lee Jennings’ sermon for the week of  November 18, 2012 is “The Joy of the Lord” based on scriptures from Nehemiah 8:1-3, 9-12 and Philippians 4:4-7.  The hymns for Sunday are “We Gather Together”, “Give Thanks with a Grateful Heart”, and “Come Ye Thankful People, Come”.

After Sunday worship service a prayer of dedication will be offered by Pastor Jennings in the Memorial Garden.

Mission Committee will be filling boxes for the eight families that the church has adopted for Thanksgiving right after church Sunday.

Presbyterian Women will be having our annual Christmas Bake Sale (which includes the “cookie walk”) and Bazaar on Saturday, December 1 from 8:00 – 2:00 in the Fellowship Hall.

The Pre-school will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday November 21 – 23, 2012.

The church office will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday and Friday, November 22 -23, 2012.

Sunday, November 11

The title of Pastor Lee Jennings’ sermon for the week of November 11, 2012 is “Should this Sermon Make Me Happy?” based on scriptures from Psalm 30 and Hebrews 9:24-28. The hymns for Sunday are “God of the Ages, Whose Almighty Hand”, “This is My Song”, and “Lead on O King Eternal”.

Worship begins at 9:45 a.m., followed by education and fellowship. Our church provides a Nursery during worship service.  Sunday School is held every Sunday at 11:00 a.m. We offer a variety of classes for all age groups.

Email problems solved (again!)

It appears that the earlier email problems are permanently resolved.  Betti Jo Pyatt, our new office manager, should be able to both send and receive email now.  Apologies for the confusion.

Hunter’s Breakfast

First Presbyterian Church of Rolla will be hosting a breakfast on Saturday, November 10, from 8am until noon to celebrate opening day of deer season.  We will be serving biscuits & gravy, pancakes, and sausage.  There is no charge for the breakfast.  Everyone is welcome—hunters, non-hunters, family, friends, everyone!  We are located at 919 E. 10th St, near Ber Juan Park and the Centre.  If you have any questions, please contact Jonathan Kimball at jonathan.kimball@gmail.com.
