The title of Reverend Susan Rosenbaum’s sermon for the week of January 06, 2013 is “Faith or Fear” based on scriptures from Isaiah 60:1-6 and Mathew 2:1-12.  The hymns for Sunday are “We Three Kings”, “Joy to the World”, and “The First Nowell”.

The cantata, “On Christmas Night” by Bob Chilcott and conducted by Jeff Sandquist  will be presented during worship this Sunday.

If you would like to purchase a poinsettias in honor or remembrance of someone to be placed in the sanctuary, please  have them at the church by no later than Thursday, December 20 by 3:30 pm.

There will be an intergenerational activity making Christmas cards on December 16.  This should be fun for the whole family.

The all church Christmas carry in dinner sponsored by the Presbyterian Women will be on Sunday, December 16th at 5:30 pm.  We will also be celebrating Bud Pumfrey’s birthday during this time.  The RJHS vocal jazz choir led by Kathy Mazzeo will be providing music.  Please come and celebrate the Christmas season together.

 

Cakes will be served during fellowship to celebrate Bud Pumfrey and Ida Ponzer’s birthdays.

The children will be presenting “Broadcasting Christmas!” A 1940s radio broadcast by Marti Kramer Suddarth during worship hour.  It is directed by Becky Jennings.

The hymns for Sunday are “Gentle Mary Laid Her Child”, “To a Maid Engaged to Joseph”, and “Once in Royal David’s City”.

The title of Pastor Lee Jennings’ sermon for the week of December 02, 2012 is “Hope for Ever-Increasing Love” based on scriptures from Psalm 25:1-10 and 1 Thess. 3:9-13.  The hymns for Sunday are “Lift Up Your Heads, Ye Mighty Gates”, “Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus”, and “O Come, O Come Emmanuel”.

The Mission Committee has adopted eight families from GRACE for Christmas. There is a sign up poster in the foyer of the church, along with the Christmas tree with family’s names.  If you sign up for food and gifts we ask you bring them back to the church by December 12.  If you take a child’s name, do not forget to take a stocking to be filled. If you would rather make a monetary donation make the check out to the Presbyterian Church.  In the memo space write, “Christmas baskets”.

If you have a college student or any secondary education student or a family member serving overseas, please give your student’s name, address, phone number, and/or email address to Karen Hudson (email: sprinter@fidnet.com).  The deacons would like to send them a care package.  The deadline is Monday, December 3.

Two cakes will be served during Fellowship to honor birthdays for Ida Ponzer and Bud Pumfrey on December 16, 2012.  There will also be an all church dinner at 5:00 pm that evening.

A freewill offering will be taken this Sunday for Michael Wilbanks’ mission trip to Thailand.

Presbyterian Women will be having their annual Christmas Bake Sale and Bazaar on Saturday, December 1 from 8:00 to 2:00 in the Fellowship Hall.  Please join us for a fun day of fellowship and shopping.

Christmas stockings for GRACE are being prepared.  You may pick them up during fellowship from Carol Jessop.  They are to be returned to church office by December 1, 2012.

Presbyterian Women will be having our annual Christmas Bake Sale and Bazaar on Saturday, December 1 from 8:00 to 2:00 in the Fellowship Hall.

The title of Pastor Lee Jennings’ sermon for the week of October 28, 2012 is “Unseen Assurance” based on scriptures from Psalms 34:1-8 and Mark 10:46-52.  The hymns for Sunday are Praise Ye The Almighty, The King of Creation, Wait for The Lord, and A Mighty Fortress is My God.

The Chancel Choir invites any interested singers to join the choir for the Christmas Cantata “On Christmas Night” by Bob Chilcott.  Extended rehearsals will be held on the following Wednesdays beginning at 7:30 p.m.  November 7, 14, 28, December 5, and at 7:00 p.m. on December 12.  The cantata will be presented during the worship service on Sunday, December 16.

The membership committee is planning a hunter’s breakfast for the morning of Saturday, November 10, which is opening day of deer season.  This is intended to be an outreach event, so it will be advertised in the newspaper, on the radio, and elsewhere.  Please sign up to help cook and serve.  For more information, contact Jonathan Kimball.

Presbyterian Women are planning a Rummage Sale on Saturday, October 13, 2012 from 7:30 am to 2:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall.  Donations of small appliances, kitchen ware, garden tools, books, CDs, games, toys, Christmas ornaments, knick knacks, and anything else you would like to give are much appreciated (no clothing, please).  The proceeds will help the PW fund our mission projects.  You may bring the items to the church on Friday, October 12, 2012 anytime from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.  If you need someone to pick up the items, please contact Sondra Crow at 573-368-4929.
