(April 4, 1957 – February 2, 2016)

Robert D. “Rob” Heberer II, 58, of Cuba, MO, formerly of Mascoutah, IL, born Apr. 4, 1957 in St. Charles, MO, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016 at his residence.

Rob graduated from Mascoutah High School (Class of 1975), and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Eastern IL University.  He was a devout Christian and had studied at Eden Seminary.

His professional career included joining the family business, Heberer Farm Equipment, after graduating from college.  He was a salesman and owner with his brother Jim of the family business managing locations in Mascoutah, Waterloo, Jerseyville and Shipman, IL.  He later joined Erb Equipment as a Sales Representative located in Cuba, MO where he worked for the last 15 years.

He was a Sitting Elder for First Presbyterian Church, Rolla, MO; formerly served on St. Paul UCC Consistory in Waterloo, IL; Board of Directors for the National Foundation for Ectodermal Dysplasias (NFED) in Mascoutah, IL; and former member of St. John United Church of Christ in Mascoutah, IL.

Rob had the gift of gab, he loved to joke around, was good as a salesman and in the ministry because he could talk to anyone.  He enjoyed a good euchre card game and evoked the tripod with his teammates when playing six-handed and the 360 slam dunk when setting his opponents.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Henry and Lillian, nee Wittlich, Heberer, and Clarence and Marion, nee Harrison, Bayles; brother-in-law, Dennis Graul; an aunt, Joni (Heberer) Riley; and an uncle, James Bayles.

Rob is survived by his parents, Robert and Janet, nee Bayles, Heberer of Freeburg, IL; three siblings, Kathi (Ed) Weilbacher of Waterloo, IL, Jim (Mary) Heberer of Millstadt, IL, and Julie Heberer of Okawville, IL; nephew, John Weilbacher, and niece, Rosie (Robert) Betz, all of St. Louis, MO; and aunt and uncle, Mary (Norman) Richter of Trenton, IL; cousins and his beloved dog, Kramer.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Rolla, MO; St. Paul United Church of Christ, Waterloo, IL; St. John United Church of Christ, Mascoutah, IL; or the National Foundation for Ectodermal Dysplasias.  Condolences can be sent to the family by visiting mollfuneralhome.com.

   Visitation:  visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM Friday, Feb. 5, 2016 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL; and from 9 to 10 AM Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016 at St. John United Church of Christ in Mascoutah, IL.

Funeral:  funeral services will be held 10 AM Saturday Feb. 6, 2016 at St. John United Church of Christ in Mascoutah with the Rev. Hugh Fitz officiating.  Burial will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.

A Memorial Service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Rolla, MO (919 E. Tenth Street) on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 10:30 am.  Fellowship will follow in the Fellowship Hall.

The title of Reverend Lou Ellen Hartley’s sermon for the week of February 07, 2016 is Called to Follow…Where? based on scriptures from Isaiah 6:1-8 and Luke 5:1-11.  The hymns for Sunday are Holy, Holy, Holy; Lord, You Have Come to the Lakeshore; Will You Come and Follow Me and Go with Us, Lord. 

Reverend Hartley will begin a new Sunday School class this week entitled Sealed in Christ. This is the study of the Presbyterian Church (USA)’s official church seal which contains within it eight different symbols.  The seal itself is a pictorial confession of sorts, depicting the foundational beliefs of the PC(USA).  The study will be of the seal and the doctrines behind it.

Worship begins at 9:45 am, followed by fellowship and education at 11:00 a.m.  Our church provides a Nursery during worship service.  First Presbyterian Church is located at 919 E. Tenth Street in Rolla.  Our website is www.rollapresby.org.

Our informal worship service, FIRED UP! is held Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the Sadler Chapel.

We will collect our Souper Bowl offering for GRACE this Sunday.

The Chili Cook-off will be Sunday, February 21, 2016.

Our Ash Wednesday service will begin at 5 pm on February 10th with soup and bread followed by the service at approximately 5:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall.
