150-4-150 Challenge
The church has received a gift of $150.00 from an anonymous donor who has issued a challenge to other members of First Presbyterian:
“Will you be creative giving of our time, talent and/or treasure in order commemorate our 150th anniversary by focusing on this special number?”
~ Possible ways to meet the 150 Challenge:
~ 150 Seconds (2 and ½ minutes) of prayer every day.
~ 150 Minutes (2 and ½ hours) of:
– Volunteering at the church or community organization
– Reading the Bible to yourself or someone.
– Visiting someone homebound
– Picking 150 flowers and giving it to someone
~ Presidential Portraits:
– 150 Abraham Lincolns (Penny) or $1.50
– 150 Thomas Jeffersons (Nickel) or $7.50
– 150 Franklin Roosevelts (Quarter) or $37.50
– 150 George Washingtons ($1.00 Dollar Bill) or $150.00
– 150 Abraham Lincolns ($5.00 Dollar Bill) or $750.00
Remember, these are just suggestions. Be creative! You may come up with other permutations of 150. The important thing to remember is that whatever you choose to do is that it be spiritually enlightening and brings you to a closer relationship with God.
If you choose to participate, please indicate a person or ministry to honor and thank. For example: Mary Kwantes for leading the 150th Anniversary activities … our exceptional Music Ministries … our exceptional Deacons … you get the idea …
FIRED UP!
Our inaugural FIRED UP! service went well this evening. Six people came out in the storm to worship God. Next week (May 1), we will be meeting in the chapel due to a schedule conflict. The service starts around 6:30 and lasts about a half hour, and is very informal with a focus on contemporary music. Hope to see you there!

Memorial Bricks
We are currently taking orders for Memorial Bricks. The cost is $100, part of which pays for maintenance for our garden. If you wish to order a brick in memory of a church member, family member or friend, please contact Cynthia Hobart. The order will be placed in June and delivered to the church later this summer.

The title of Pastor John Oerter’s sermon for the week of April 27, 2014 is Pentecost Incognito based on scriptures from John 20: 19-31. The hymns for Sunday are Spirit and Rejoice, Ye Pure in Heart!.
Worship begins at 9:45 am, followed by education and fellowship at 11:00 a.m. Our church provides a Nursery during worship service. First Presbyterian Church is located at 919 E. Tenth Street in Rolla. Our website is www.rollapresby.org.
The PW Spring Meeting will meet on May 10th at 11:00 am at Wellington Clubhouse. There will be a business meeting followed by a salad luncheon hosted by the board. Annual birthday offering will be taken followed by a dedication ceremony. All women of the congregation are welcome to attend.
FIRED UP! We are starting a new worship experience on Thursdays at 6:30 – 7:00 pm starting on April 24th.
We will have historical communion on May 4th. Please try to wear dark suits (men) and dark dresses or skirts (women).
Orders need to be put in for tee shirts ASAP. Please contact Mary Kwantes at mlakwantes@hotmail.com. Minimum ordered required.
Please notify the office if you have a child or grandchild graduating from High School or College this year. We will honor them on May 25th.
Nanette Turner will be filling in during Betti Jo’s absence. Her hours will be 8 am – 3 pm Monday through Thursday at this time.
We are looking for someone to answer phones on Friday mornings. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the office.
Hat Day
Do not forget our festive hat day at church, Sunday April 27, no caps….decade dress is optional but appreciated.
Flower Pick Up
Please pick up your potted plants and vases from church. Cut flowers will be disposed of.
