The title of Pastor John Oerter’s sermon for the week of October 13, 2013 is Pay It Forward based on scriptures from Mark 12: 41 – 44.  The hymns for Sunday are Lord of the Dance and Today We All Are Called.

Worship begins at 9:45 am, followed by education and fellowship.  Our church provides a Nursery during worship service.  First Presbyterian Church is located at 919 E. Tenth Street in Rolla.  Our website is www.rollapresby.org.

The bonfire was a great party but without fire due to the rain.  We are doing it again on Saturday, October 12 at 5:00 pm at the Whitaker’s home.  All other plans the same as last week.  Hope to see you there!

The 150^th Committee has planned a public reception at the Olive Street Church on October 19^th from 10:00 to noon.  Please plan to stop by and extend the invitation to your friends.

Volunteers are needed to help provide transportation to Sunday Services for our support needed friends.  If you are able to provide this valuable service, please contact Carrie Aswegan of the Deacon’s Committee.  She can be reached by phone at 426-2733 or by email at craeaswegan@hotmail.com.

The Preschool will be closed on Monday, October 14^th.

Do you love our children? … Do you love our Pre-School?  If so, we have a joyful opportunity for you!  The Presbyterian Pre-School has their annual Halloween Trick or Treat Party on Halloween, October 31st from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. in our Fellowship Hall.  We can help set up games, and in shifts of about an hour play with the children!  Please let Betti Jo or Candace know by calling 364-3852 or 201-9619.

Last week’s bonfire was a great party, but with no fire because of the rain.  So we’re doing it again!  Saturday, October 12, 5:00 p.m. at the Whitakers’ house, everything else as before.  Hope to see you there!

We are excited about all the guest returning to sing with the choir on October 20th. Our lunch at noon will be an opportunity to show them hospitality and have fun visiting. Please check the sign-up list across from the office to help with the lunch and participate in the 150th in a  meaningful way. There is also a sign-up list for other events which need monetary support if you feel called to do that. Many folks have signed up for their portraits, but we are only about halfway to having it 100% participation.

Last night (October 5), we had a great party, but no bonfire due to the weather.  So, we’re going to do it again!  Next Saturday, October 12, at the Whitakers’ place, 5pm-8pm.  Please spread the word.  As before, bring lawn chairs, games, snacks to share, guitars, whatever you think is needed to make a good bonfire.  Here are the directions again:

The Whitakers’ house is on County Road 3160, east off Highway 72. Look for the power substation as you turn left. Go a little over a mile. House is 12001 on the left up a long driveway. There will be some balloons on the mailbox.

The bonfire scheduled for tonight, Oct. 5, at 5pm is still on!  It looks like the rain will clear out, and we’ll be able to have a good time.  If things are too wet, we will just go inside the Whitakers’ house.  Regardless, I hope to see you there!

Those interested in getting a head start on the music for the October 20^th Choir Reunion can start coming to practice Wednesday, October 9^th at 7:30 and October 16^th at 7:00.  Contact Mary Kwantes if you want music now to study.

Retired Presbyterian ladies will meet for lunch on Monday, October 7, at 11;45 at Los Cazadores.
