As we start the fall semester, Common Call Campus Ministry is getting started again. Please find us on Facebook, or on the web at https://commoncall.org. Common Call is jointly sponsored by First Presbyterian, Hope Lutheran (ELCA), and Christ Episcopal Church. Our first meeting is August 26 at 6 pm at Christ Episcopal Church. This fall, we will be running Alpha.

The title of Reverend Lou Ellen Hartley’s sermon for the week of August 19, 2018 is Wisdom Says, “Come On!” based on scriptures from Ephesians 5: 15-20; John 6: 51-58; Psalm 34: 9-14; and Proverbs 9: 1-6. The hymns for Sunday are Morning Has Broken; Come and Seek the Ways of Wisdom; and God Be with You Til We Meet Again.

Our informal worship service, FIRED UP! is held Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the Sadler Chapel.

We are planning on floating the Current River, most likely Cedar Grove to Akers Ferry, on August 25.  Details TBD based on interests.  Options include canoe, kayak, or inner tube, understanding that tubes are much slower than the others.  Please let Jonathan Kimball know if you want to go, and what type of vessel you want.  If you want to canoe but don’t have a partner yet, don’t worry–we’ll work that out.

New directories are printed and on the table outside the office.  I printed one for each family.  They will be revised annually.

There are also B&W copies in the sanctuary for newcomers who would like to pick one up.

Due to the parking lot work, Fired Up! is canceled this week, July 26. Please join us next week, August 2, at 6:30 pm in the Sadler Chapel.
