The title of Pastor John Oerter’s sermon for the week of November 10, 2013 is Not the Former Glory based on scriptures from Haggai 1: 15b-2:9.  The hymns for Sunday are How Great Thou Art and See Ye First.  The Bell Choir will also be playing this Sunday.

We will have a special time during the service to honor our Veterans.

Worship begins at 9:45 am, followed by education and fellowship.  Our church provides a Nursery during worship service.  First Presbyterian Church is located at 919 E. Tenth Street in Rolla.  Our website is www.rollapresby.org.

We are now collecting food for Thanksgiving baskets for local families.  Sign-up board is outside the office.  Please drop your donations off in the Fellowship Hall by Tuesday, November 19, 2013.

Deacons are now gathering names and information for the Care Packages to be sent to our students and families serving overseas.  Please get in touch with Cheryl Koederitz, email: koe@mst.edu if you have any questions.  Deadline is Monday, December 2.

The Preschool only will be closed Monday, November 11, in observance of Veteran’s Day.

The church will host a Hunter’s Breakfast on Saturday, November 16 from 8 a.m. to noon in the Fellowship Hall.  Everyone is welcome to join in the fellowship.

We are in need of people to host fellowship each week.  If this is something you would like to do, please sign up on the bulletin board outside the church office.

Veterans Day Celebration

Our ceremony honoring Armed Service and community protection workers is this Sunday, November 10. Please bring any memorabilia, photos etc. We will have tables for display. Remember  the wearing of any and all service uniforms is encouraged. Marked carnations will be distributed by reading of names, so be prepared to come forward and receive the flower for your designee if you are able. Extra flowers will be available if there is a need. Carnations not picked up during the service will stay in the office one week and after may be disposed or delivered to the Veterans home.

Deceased Family Members

I have gotten a couple reports of someone being omitted from the 25 year list or the date of death was incorrect.  Please check the list and if you have someone who needs to be added or a correction made, please let the office know and it will be corrected.

“Spreading the Good Word” retreat Saturday, November 09, 2013

The title of Pastor John Oerter’s sermon for the week of November 03, 2013 is Up a Tree … and Down based on scriptures from Luke 19: 1-10.  The hymns for Sunday are Talents and Tongues Employ, and I Sing a Song of the Saints of God.

Worship begins at 9:45 am, followed by education and fellowship.  Our church provides a Nursery during worship service.  First Presbyterian Church is located at 919 E. Tenth Street in Rolla.  Our website is www.rollapresby.org.

Our Inquirer’s Class begins this Sunday taught by Pastor John.  This class is for those who are interested in becoming members or just want to learn more about the Presbyterian faith.  It will be during the 11:00 a.m. education hour.  For more information, see Pastor John.

Retired Presbyterian Women will meet for lunch on Monday, November 4, 2013 at 11:45 a.m. at Bandanas.

We are now collecting food for the Thanksgiving food baskets.  There is a sign up board outside the office.

For those of you wanting to learn to share our faith more directly and effectively:  We are holding a mid-Saturday retreat called: “Spreading the Good Word”.  We will gather at the church on Saturday, November 9 at 10 a.m.  Arrangements will be made for lunch and we will end by 3:00 p.m.

The engraved bricks placed in the memorial garden will be dedicated by Pastor John this Sunday after worship service.

We  will also honor our members deceased for All Saints Day during worship.

Whoever left the purple folder with pictures in it in Pastor John’s office; it is ready for pickup by the owner.

We are in need of people to host fellowship each week after worship.  There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board outside the church office.

If you did not get your pictures taken for the sesquicentennial directory, please let the office know to arrange a picture to be included.

There will be a table set up to display pictures or memorabilia of your veteran loved ones for November 10th.
